Metropolitan and Regional members are encouraged identify specific programs that may be of interest in your local areas and contact VPA to consider for addition to the Professional Learning calender.

VPA offers new members free professional learning programs for the first six months of membership to the value of $120.
Members nominating their first new member receives $120 of professional learning in the first six months of the new member joining.

Preparing for Principalship with Geoff Barclay
Geoff's hugely popular workshop series on the path to the Principalship is back in 2010!
Geoff has eighteen years experience as a principal and has recently retired after five years as a SEO in the Southern Metropolitan Region. He has a wealth of experience in principal class selection processes, in training panels serving as the DEECD representative and in using the Sergiovanni domains.
Dates have been booked for terms 1, 2 & 3 in both metro and regional areas:

Creating Your 2011 Workforce Plan with Bill Hunt
Term 4 2010 will see a number of opportunities to attend a workshop being run by Bill Hunt, an Education consultant specialising in finance.
Bill has been responsible for a variety of projects for DEECD from 2001 including coordination of the state-wide ‘High Cost Schools’ support program, the ‘Workforce Bridging’ safety net program and has been a member of the Workforce Bridging Support Team. Bill is also a presenter of the ‘Dollars & Sense’ program. Bill brings a breadth of experience having also presented large numbers of training programs in Workforce Planning for the Victorian Principals Association.
Creating Your 2011 Workforce Plan is designed to assist Principals shortly after the release of the SRP and will cover:
- Workforce planning and budgeting concepts
- Major issues that impact on staff planning
- Creating a sustainable workforce plan
- Deficit and surplus management strategies
- Hands on modelling with the SRP Planner using your school’s data

Ballarat: Wednesday 20 October
